Mobile broadband price plans (from September 2011)

Our standard price plan charges

There are bound to be times when your data allowance doesn’t last the whole month. So we think it’s a good idea to know beforehand how much you’ll have to pay if you want more. The following are our standard charges for texting or using data in the UK or abroad. They’ll only apply once you go over the allowance stated in your welcome letter or email.

Data charges in the UK

Using data on your mobile equipment

How do you know how much data you’ve used? You can monitor your data usage by checking the Vodafone mobile broadband dashboard or by logging into My Account on vodafone.co.uk.

We’ll send you a notification when you get to 80% of your data allowance, unless you’ve opted out of receiving such messages.

Data usage in the UK

Each Mobile Broadband price plan comes with a data allowance. If your allowance runs out and you want to continue to use the internet, then you’ll be charged at the out of bundle rates. The charges will apply even if you don’t use all of the additional data allowance. If our content control prevents you from looking at internet content you’ll still be charged for any data you download.

Price Plan Out of bundle UK data charges
Occasional £2 for 250MB per day
(expires at midnight)
Starter £7.50 for 500MB
(expires after one month)
Standard & Premium £15 for 1GB
(expires after one month)
Laptops/netbooks £15 for 1GB
(expires after one month)

If you’re on an unrestricted data price plan or unrestricted data bundle, you can use your data allowance for:
a) calls over the internet;
b) legally sharing data files; and
c) giving other people access to your mobile equipment over the internet.

However, if you’re on a restricted price plan we will:
a) block access to these services;
b) restrict performance; or
c) charge you for this use at the rates published at vodafone.co.uk
If you want to use mobile equipment as a modem, you’ll need to have a compatible device and be on a price plan that allows this.

Text messaging in the UK and abroad

Text message (per message) Cost (per message)
Standard UK text message (up to 160 characters) 12p
Text messaging worldwide (up to 160 characters) This is the charge for sending a standard text from the UK to another country. The same charge applies if you are abroad and you receive text messages to your mobile broadband account with the exception of texts sent from Vodafone. 25p

Text message costs will be shown on your bill as an additional charge. Please note, if we’re charged an admin fee from a foreign network operator for you to receive a text, we’ll pass this charge to you.

Data charges abroad

We’ve divided the world into zones which carry different charges. As zones and charges change from time to time, please check www.vodafone.co.uk/internetabroad before travelling.

Our charges are based on a calendar day and calculated in Greenwich Meantime (GMT). Even when you’re abroad, they’ll be based on GMT rather than the local time.

General

Prices are correct at time of print and include VAT unless otherwise stated. You can find more information about our text and data charges at vodafone.co.uk.
