Global Roaming (before 11 August 2021)

Vodafone Global Roaming

These are the terms and conditions of Vodafone Global Roaming which covers the use of your phone in our 51 Roam-free destinations (Roam-free) and our 105 Roam-further destinations (Roam-further). It also includes terms for those plans benefiting from Vodafone Global Roaming Plus.

The use of Vodafone Global Roaming and Vodafone Global Roaming Plus is subject to these terms and those of our Pay Monthly airtime agreement and charges guide (from 15 June 2017). We reserve the right to vary or amend these terms, but we’ll notify you if any changes are to your disadvantage. Visit our Global Roaming page for more details.

If you’re on a business plan, go to our Business Roaming page for more information and terms. Unfortunately, Roam-free and Roam-further can’t be used with non-standard business plans and public sector plans.

Vodafone Roam-free

What is it?

With Vodafone Roam-free, there’s no extra charge to use your UK allowance of data, minutes and texts in our 51 Roam-free destinations. You can use UK data packs, international add-ons and other applicable international Extras. However, you can’t call or text premium-rate numbers, use any inclusive entertainment services (Amazon Prime Video, Sky Sports Mobile TV or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass – however you can use Spotify Premium whilst roaming) or any other Extras with Roam-free, unless we tell you otherwise.

Who qualifies?

Our Pay monthly customers benefit from Roam-free automatically. This excludes customers on a Vodafone Basics plan.

What are the charges?

With Vodafone Global Roaming, there’s no extra charge to use your UK allowances of data, minutes and texts in our Roam-free destinations. If you exceed your UK allowances, you’ll be charged our standard out-of-bundle rates for using data, making calls or sending texts. The same charges apply whether you’re in the UK or our Roam-free destinations.

Premium-rate numbers, non-geographic numbers, additional services, Extras and other add-ons not included in your plan are excluded from Roam-free. You can find out more on these charges in the Charges Guide [PDF: 978KB] you received with your contract, or at our charges page online.

Calls from a Roam-free destination to the UK or to another Roam-free destination are included in Vodafone Roam-free and will be taken from your home plan allowance (or at standard UK rates once you have exceeded your UK bundle allowance).

However, calls from a Roam-free destination to any country beyond the UK and our 51 Roam-free destinations will be charged at our standard international rates which vary depending on the country you’re calling.

Your out-of-bundle data usage in our Roam-free destinations is capped automatically at £39.33 (€50). You can continue to use data once you reach this limit by turning off the roaming data cap. UK out of bundle rates will then apply.

Roam-free is intended for periodic travel. It isn’t meant for users roaming on a semi-permanent or permanent basis

Is Mobile Broadband included?

Yes. If you have a tablet, dongle or a mobile Wi-Fi device, there’s no extra charge to use your home plan of data when travelling in our Roam-free destinations.

Vodafone Roam-further

What is it?

Vodafone Roam-further lets you use your UK allowance of data, minutes and texts in our 105 Roam-further destinations for a fixed daily charge. Please see our Charges Guide [PDF: 978KB] for the daily charge.

You can use UK data packs, international add-ons and other applicable international bundles. However, you can’t use any inclusive entertainment service (Amazon Prime Video, Sky Sports Mobile TV or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass – but you can use Spotify Premium whilst roaming) or any other Extras with Roam-further unless we tell you otherwise.

Who can use it?

Pay monthly customers benefit from Roam-further automatically. This excludes customers on a Vodafone Basics plan.

Charges

The Roam-further daily charge will be applied automatically to your bill automatically when you use your device within our Roam-further destinations – but you won’t be charged to receive calls or texts. There is a 50KB grace allowance when using data in a Roam-further destination before the charge will apply. If you exceed your UK allowances, you’ll be charged our standard out-of-plan rates for using data, making calls or sending texts. The same charges apply whether you’re in the UK or our Roam-further destinations.

Premium-rate numbers, non-geographic numbers, additional services, Extras and other add-ons not included in your plan are excluded from Roam-further. You can find out more about these charges in the Charges Guide [PDF: 978KB] you received with your contract, or at our charges page online.

If you are travelling in a Roam-further destination, and you make a call or send a text to a country outside the country you’re roaming in (excluding calls or texts back to the UK), you’ll be charged our standard international charges in addition to the Roam-further daily charge. See the latest charges

The Roam-further daily charge is only applied on those days that you use your device while in a Roam-further destination. Whichever Roam-further destination you’re in, we’ll count a day as 00:00 to 23:59 local time for the capital city of the country you’re visiting. If you travel to another Roam-further destination on the same day, you’ll only be charged the daily charge once for that one day that you use your device, but it will end at midnight in the capital of the country you were first in.

Your out-of-bundle data usage in our Roam-further destinations is capped automatically at £39.33 (€50). You can continue to use data once you reach this limit by turning off the roaming data cap. UK out of bundle rates will then apply.

Is Mobile Broadband included?

Yes. If you have a tablet, dongle or a mobile Wi-Fi device, you can use your home plan of data when travelling in our Roam-further destinations.

Please be aware

There’s no data cap automatically in place when you use devices in our Roam-further zone. As you’ll be using your UK data allowance, you’ll be notified by text when you’re getting close to the limit of your allowance, just as you would in the UK. You’ll be charged our standard UK out-of-bundle charges for any usage that exceeds this allowance.

Countries outside the Roam-further destinations will always be charged at our standard roaming rates. For more information on destinations and standard charges, visit our consumer roaming page or our business roaming page

Is there a Fair Use Policy for Vodafone Global Roaming Plus?

Yes. Our Vodafone Global Roaming Plus proposition is intended for periodic travel and not for users roaming on a semi-permanent or permanent basis.
