Which one is best for you?
iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus may look near identical to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus – but there are a number of impressive upgrades that make them seriously desirable smartphones, even with competition from newer models.
For starters, they’re built from series 7000 aluminium – making them tougher and more rigid than iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Both phones were also the first to feature the A9 chip with 2GB of RAM and a 70% boost in CPU power. Another new feature introduced with iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus was 3D Touch, which detects how hard you press on the screen – opening the window to much more sophisticated app use.
In terms of performance there’s little to separate the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus. Even the cameras are pretty similar, both featuring a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with 4K video capability. The 6S Plus is just slightly ahead with additional optical image stabilization for video.
As you’d expect, the 6S Plus has a better battery life than its smaller brother, boasting up to 24 hours talk time on 3G as opposed to 14 hours for the 6S. But other than that, and optical image stabilization for video, the phones are near-identical in specs apart from the screen size.
So ultimately, the choice here is between the luxury of the large 5.5-inch screen and improved battery life of iPhone 6S Plus and the convenience of the smaller iPhone 6S – which boasts the same processing power and near identical hardware.
