Apple iPhone 17 Pro

Alongside the other 17 models and the iPhone Air, the iPhone 17 Pro was announced on Tuesday 9 September 2025 and was available to pre-order on Friday 12 September 2025. It was then available to buy from Friday 19 September 2025. 

The iPhone 17 Pro screen measures 6.3 inches – the same size as the iPhone 17 – and is a Super Retina XDR (High Dynamic Range) display. It’s smoother and more responsive, with its built in ProMotion technology, offering fast adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz.

Unique to the iPhone 17 models, its display has an optional Always-On functionality, which shows a dimmed, full-colour version of your iPhone's lock screen even when it's locked, allowing you to view the time and your notifications at a glance.

The screen also features haptic touch feedback technology for a tactile experience.

iPhone 17 Pro benefits from an advanced Pro Fusion camera system, with all three rear cameras being 48MP. It also has an 18MP Centre Stage front camera. Plus, it can shoot video in 4K 120fps with Dolby Vision. 

The Apple iPhone 17 Pro includes the A19 Pro chip with a more powerful 6-core GPU, making it the strongest iPhone alongside the 17 Pro Max. 

As one of the top iPhones on the market, the iPhone 17 Pro allows for up to 31 hours of video playback (up to 28 when streamed). This is slightly behind the battery life of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which offers up to 37 hours.

The iPhone 17 Pro has a USB-C charging port, and the charging cable is provided in the box. A wall plug is not included with the charger – this is to help Apple reach carbon neutrality by 2030.

Yes, the iPhone 17 Pro has dual SIM support; you can have two active SIMs on your phone – one physical nano-SIM card and a virtual eSIM. So, you can switch between data packages when buying a SIM for travelling abroad. 

Yes, the iPhone 17 Pro is compatible with eSIM, which allows you to have a digital, built-in version of your SIM card. The iPhone 17 Pro supports dual eSIMs, so you can have two eSIMs set up on the device. 

The iPhone 17 Pro was released at the same time as the iPhone Air, which was the first eSIM-only iPhone. The 17 Pro does have a physical SIM card slot, so you can still use a physical nano-SIM. 

Yes, the iPhone 17 Pro is rated IP68 under IEC standard 60529, which means it is safe in water at maximum depth of six metres, for up to 30 minutes. This is considered splash-proof and water resistant. 

The iPhone 17 Pro comes with Apple Intelligence, the brand's own edition of AI technology, which features many helpful and fun tools to let you express yourself and organise your life. These include an enhanced writing tools for Siri, mail and messages, photo assistance features like Clean Up and image generation, and Live Translation to translate conversations immediately. 

The iPhone 17 Pro comes in a range of three bold colours: silver, cosmic orange, and deep blue. 

The iPhone 17 Pro has three storage options – 265GB, 512GB, and 1TB – so you can choose which best suits your budget and needs. 

There were no new buttons added to the iPhone 17 models. The iPhone 17 Pro features the Action button, which was originally introduced to the iPhone 15 models in 2023, and the Camera Control button that was a new feature of the iPhone 16 models, launched in 2024.
