Black Friday FAQ's

What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is a sale day where retailers offer some of their biggest savings of the year. It comes from the United States, where the date, 17 November, is the day after Thanksgiving. In the US, this marks the beginning of the official Christmas shopping season.

Some US retailers introduced the idea of Black Friday to the UK and it is now one of the biggest shopping days here.

Why is it called Black Friday?

There are several different explanations as to how Black Friday got its name. One is that this was the day that many retailers began to turn profit, going from ‘in the red’ to ‘in the black’.

What is Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday was created to give online retailers a boost, when online shopping wasn’t as big as it is now. Online stores offer big discounts on the Monday following Black Friday – when shoppers may be browsing the web while back at work or on an extended holiday.

When is Black Friday 2017?

Black Friday falls on the fourth Friday of November each year. In 2017 it will be on Friday 24 November. Our Black Friday sale goes right through from midnight 23 November to midnight 27 November (Cyber Monday).
