How's my early termination fee calculated?

If you want to cancel your plan before the end of your contract, you’ll need to pay to leave early – this is the early termination fee.

We add it to your final bill, which you get within 22 days of leaving us.

How to find out how much it is

To find out your leaving fee:

How we work out the early termination fee

The amount depends on what kind of account you have – mobile or broadband.

Mobile account

To work out the fee for mobile plans:

  1. See how many months you have left before your plan ends

  2. Add together all the remaining charges for those months

  3. Take off any discounts you have

  4. Take off 2%, because you're paying it off early in one go

For example:

Your plan costs £45 a month, and you get a £10 discount, so you pay £35 a month in total. You have 6 months left until your plan ends, and you want to leave.

  • To work out your outstanding charges for these remaining 6 months, we multiply what you pay each month (’35) by 6 = £210

  • Then we take off 2% of that £210 (’4.20) to get your final fee = £205.80

Broadband account

To work out the fee for broadband plans:

  1. See how many months you have left before your plan ends

  2. Add together the remaining charges for those months

  3. Take off any discount you have

  4. Remove VAT from the total to get the original cost without VAT

  5. Remove any savings we make because you’re leaving early, like payments to our suppliers.

  6. Take off 2%, because you're paying it off early in one go

  7. Finally, we add VAT back on

For example:

Your plan costs £25 a month, this includes VAT. You have 6 months left until your plan ends, and you want to leave:

  1. Multiply what you pay each month by the months left on your plan, £25 x 6 = £150

  2. Remove VAT (currently 20%), £150 – 1.2 = £125

  3. Take off any cost savings we make. For example, if we save £14 a month, 14 x 6 = £84. We take this off the original cost, £125 - £84 = £41

  4. Then we take 2% off that, £41 x 0.98 = £40.18

  5. Finally, we add VAT back on, £40.18 x 1.2 = £48.22
