Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max

The iPhone 17 Pro Max was announced on Tuesday 9 September 2025, and was available to pre-order on Friday 12 September 2025. It was available to buy from Friday 19 September 2025. 

If you buy an iPhone 17 Pro Max, it will come with a USB-C charging cable in the box. A wall plug isn’t included – this is to help Apple reach carbon neutrality by 2030.

As the biggest model in the iPhone 17 lineup, the iPhone 17 Pro Max features a large 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display with Always-On functionality. It has haptic touch functions and ProMotion technology with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz for an ultra-smooth visual experience.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max also has an impressive Pro Fusion camera system, featuring three 48MP rear lenses and an 18MP front-facing Centre Stage camera. It’s capable of recording 4K video at 120fps with Dolby Vision for stunning clarity and colour.

In terms of processing power, the iPhone 17 Pro Max contains the A19 Pro chip with a 6-core GPU, delivering exceptional performance and efficiency.

iPhone 17 Pro Max comes with Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system designed to help you write, express yourself, and get things done. As well as app-specific AI features, it offers system-wide Writing Tools to assist you in writing any kind of message or email, and notifications and emails can be summarised for efficiency. 

The device’s Visual Intelligence allows it to understand on-screen content and identify items in photos or get event details from saved images.  

As well as having an advanced version of Siri built-in, the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s AI features are available in third-party apps, creating a seamless assisted experience when using the phone for anything. 

With the iPhone 17 Pro Max you can enjoy up to 37 hours of video playback (up to 33 when streamed), which is the longest battery life of all the iPhone 17 models.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max does have a physical SIM card slot for nano-SIM. It also has dual SIM capability, which means as well as a physical nano-SIM, you can also add a digital eSIM to your device for flexibility.

Yes, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is compatible with eSIM, which allows you to have a digital, built-in version of your SIM card. The iPhone 17 Pro Max also supports dual eSIMs, so you can have two eSIMs set up on the device. 

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is splash and water resistant. It’s got an IP68 rating under the IEC standard 60529. This means the phone can safely withstand being under water at a maximum depth of six metres, for up to 30 minutes. 

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is available in three different colours, which are silver, cosmic orange, and deep blue. 

iPhone 17 Pro Max has four storage options: 265GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. 

There were no new buttons added to the iPhone 17 models. The iPhone 17 Pro features the Action button, which was introduced to the iPhone 15 models in 2023, and the Camera Control button that was a new feature of the iPhone 16 models, launched in 2024.
