Apple iPhone Air

Alongside the iPhone 17 models, the iPhone Air was announced on Tuesday 9 September 2025. The Air was made available to pre-order on Friday 12 September 2025, and then available to buy from Friday 19 September 2025. 

The iPhone Air is Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever, and measures just 5.6mm (0.22 inches) in depth – making it 2.3mm thinner than the iPhone 17. On top of being thinner with a larger screen, the Air is roughly 10g lighter than the iPhone 17 too, maximising its portability and practicality. 

The iPhone Air screen measures 6.5 inches, which is the biggest iPhone screen outside of the Pro Max models to date. It’s larger than both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models. As with all iPhone 17 models, the iPhone Air has ProMotion technology, which enables adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz. 

Alongside the Pro and Pro Max models, the Air boasts a Super Retina XDR (OLED) display with Always-On functionality, offering High Dynamic Range – HDR for short – with improved brightness, colour and contrast compared to standard displays.  

The screen also has haptic touch functions, providing tactile feedback to confirm actions such as a long press or typing on the keyboard.  

Yes, the iPhone Air can support up to eight or more eSIMs, allowing you to store multiple network profiles in one phone. Only two eSIMs can be active on the iPhone Air at a time, which still allows you to switch between them quickly – ideal for travelling abroad and accessing different data packages. 

The iPhone Air is the first eSIM-only iPhone model, and as a result does not have a physical SIM card slot.  

Advantages of an eSIM only iPhone include enhanced security – since eSIMs can't be lost or stolen like physical SIM cards – as well as the reduction in waste by eliminating the need for plastic SIM cards. 

In comparison to other recent models, the iPhone Air has a similarly long battery life. With the Air, you can enjoy up to 27 hours of video playback (up to 22 when streamed), which is comparable with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Plus models. Since the Lightning cable has now been phased out, the iPhone Air uses a USB-C cable for charging and connecting to other devices. Just as with all recent iPhone models, the USB-C charging cable is provided in the box when you purchase the iPhone Air. 

The iPhone Air is also Magsafe charging compatible, meaning you can charge the phone wirelessly. However, you will need to purchase a Magsafe charger separately to the phone – shop our range of wireless chargers 

The iPhone Air includes the A19 Pro chip with 5-core GPU – the same chipset as the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. 

The iPhone Air has a 48MP Fusion camera system, which enhances your image to ensure you get the best photo every time.  

It also features an 18MP front camera with Centre Stage technology. This uses machine learning to help keep you centred in your video as you move, keeping you in the spotlight of your selfie videos. 

The iPhone Air’s camera can shoot video in 4K 60fps with Dolby Vision, for capturing moments to remember in the highest quality. 

Yes, the iPhone Air is splash and water resistant. It’s rated IP68 under IEC standard 60529, which means the Air is safe underwater at a maximum depth of six metres, for up to 30 minutes. 

The iPhone Air comes with Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system designed to help you get things done. This AI functionality was introduced in the iPhone 16 models and offers features such as Writing Tools for text generation, Image Playground for image creation, Genmoji for custom emojis, Clean Up in photos to remove unwanted objects, and much more. 

The iPhone Air is available in four sleek colourways unique to this model, so you can choose the look that suits you. The iPhone Air colours include space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue. 

The iPhone Air has three storage options: 265GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Outside of the Pro and Pro Max models, this device is first iPhone to offer a terabyte (1TB) of storage, meaning you won't need to worry about how many photos you want to keep or which apps you need to get rid of as quickly. 

The iPhone Air still features the Action button, which was originally introduced to the iPhone 15 models, and the Camera Control button that was new to the iPhone 16 models.
