5G+ is our next level 5G experience. On 5G+, you can enjoy greater coverage and improved phone battery life, as well as amazingly fast 5G speeds on our upgraded 5G network. It’s powered by our new 5G core network, which is referred to as ‘5G Standalone’ in the industry.

Do I need to pay anything to access 5G+?

5G+ is included free of charge in an extended list of mobile plans as highlighted in the How can I get 5G+ area of this page. For mobile plans that do not come with 5G+ free of charge, there is a £2/month fee.

Do I need to perform a software update to access 5G+?

You must have the latest software update on your device to use 5G+. To check if there's a system update available for your device, go to Settings > Software update. For Apple devices, the iOS 18 software update must be installed to access 5G+.

What kind of SIM card do I need to access 5G+?

For Android OS devices, your current SIM is already 5G+ enabled. For Apple devices, if you are using a physical SIM issued before April 2022 or an eSIM issued before January 2024, a SIM replacement will be needed to enable the 5G+ service.

Can I use 5G+ abroad?

5G+ is not available when roaming at the moment. If you have a 5G-ready plan and a 5G device, you can roam with 5G wherever it’s available. 5G wherever it’s available. See where you can access our 5G network in Europe

How does 5G + provide greater coverage?

Greater 5G coverage is due to 5G+ introduction of lower band 5G spectrum. This will allow over 1 million more customers to connect to the 5G network.

How does 5G+ improve my battery life?

As tested on the Samsung S22 device, the 5G+ network can provide up to 25% improved battery life (or up to 3 extra hours). This is achieved through the 5G+ network's inbuilt battery saving feature. In addition, 5G+ is a more efficient network than 5G, communicating with your device less often.
