Advancing digital healthcare through virtual surgery

The healthcare sector has been profoundly affected by the pandemic. So, we're delighted to announce we’ve formalised our partnership with Proximie, the health technology platform that is digitising operating rooms around the world as part of its mission to save lives by sharing the world’s best clinical practices.

By bringing together Proximie’s expertise and Vodafone’s capabilities, we can accelerate the innovation needed to drive efficiencies and improve patient care.

Many of today’s digital healthcare innovations depend on a mix of cutting-edge digital technologies and specialist healthcare applications. That’s why we’ve combined our expertise in connectivity solutions with Deloitte's healthcare consulting expertise in a new initiative: The Vodafone Centre for Health with Deloitte.

This alliance is designed to extend access to a wide range of healthcare services and solutions, built on our connectivity and digital platforms.

As part of this initiative, and by formalising our relationship with Proximie, we’re helping to take virtual care to the next level by digitising operating rooms and theatres. This will help clinicians and surgeons to collaborate remotely and in real time on surgical procedures.

Creating a worldwide network of interconnected operating rooms, the solution will help leading clinicians to guide incisions and act on real time patient diagnostics, data and analysis, just like they would in a traditional operating theatre.

The impact of Covid-19 has resulted in a record number of patients now waiting to have hospital treatment following delayed surgery and cancelled operations, which has led us to ask how we can do more to help.

Extending access to training

A huge benefit of real-time surgical collaboration is that it increases students’ and trainees’ access to enhanced video-based training.

This will mean teaching hospitals and healthcare providers can reach more students, more easily, and improve the quality and speed of training they offer. As these trained practitioners enter the workforce in hospitals and clinics, they will help to increase the capacity at which operations can be performed, giving more patients access to high quality surgical care.

Extending healthcare where it’s needed most

It's hard to imagine a scenario where robust connectivity is more critical than digital healthcare. That’s why we’re proud to be joining forces with Proximie, so that more patients can benefit from their market-leading software, powered by our award-winning and resilient network.

With a proven track record in connecting over 20 million healthcare devices around the world, we look forward to continuing to play our part in transforming healthcare delivery and improving patient outcomes.

Having the best connectivity is imperative for delivering digital health services at scale, so we are thrilled to partner with Vodafone Business to leverage its 5G capabilities and cutting-edge technologies such as Edge Computing.
