The Google Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are two premium devices, with the latter being released a year later. However, only the 9 Pro XL can claim to have a 100-hour battery life with Extreme Battery Saver⁵ - the 8 Pro claims to have 72 hours in comparison. Despite this, Google boasts that both devices have 24+ hours of battery life^⁵,⁶. The devices also have fast wireless charging⁷ and Battery Share, so you can charge other devices wirelessly⁸.

When it comes to taking photographs, both offer the same rear camera system - consisting of a 50MP wide lens, 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom - so you'll take great photos with both. However, only the 9 Pro XL offers 8K video recording and a higher resolution selfie camera of 42MP. In contrast, the 8 Pro offers 4K video recording and a 10.5MP front facing camera. The 9 Pro XL also benefits from the latest AI features, for example Add Me⁹ which enables you to add the photographer into your picture, so they're not missed out. It also has the new Pixel Studio app¹⁰ - so you can create images through written prompts.

In conclusion, both the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL have some great features and share similarities. Choose the Pixel 9 Pro XL for the latest in AI, a longer battery life, and an improved screen - or pick the Pixel 8 Pro for an equally excellent camera at a lower price point.
