Compare Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold vs Google Pixel 9 Pro XL

Which one is best for you?

Released in 2024, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold and 9 Pro XL are two premium Google devices. As the name suggests, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a folding phone consisting of two Super Actua displays, an 8-inch internal display and a 6.3-inch external display¹. The 9 Pro XL has one 6.8-inch Super Actua display¹. A benefit of a folding phone is the multitasking ability - with a larger screen you can do more than on a traditional smartphone - see our phablets page for more information.

Both devices benefit from a great battery life. Google claims that either device has a 24+ hour battery life². This is made possible by Extreme Battery Saver, which gives an extra 72 hours on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and an impressive 100 hours on Pixel 9 Pro XL³. The 9 Pro Fold and 9 Pro XL benefit from wireless charging⁴, but the Pixel 9 Pro XL's is quicker and also has the ability to charge other devices through Battery Share⁵. Both devices have an impressive 16GB RAM for fast processing power which pairs well with Google's Tensor G4 processor.

Both devices have a triple camera system, with the 9 Pro XL outperforming with a 50MP wide camera, 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 48MP telephoto camera. The 9 Pro Fold has a large 48MP wide camera but a less advanced 10.5MP ultrawide and a 10.8 telephoto camera. Maybe it's not a deal breaker but if you take a lot of selfies, you may favour the 9 Pro XL's 42MP front-facing camera. In comparison the 9 Pro Fold's is just 10MP. Both benefit from the latest in AI features, including Add Mewhich enables you to add the photographer into your picture using augmented reality⁶. You'll also get the new Pixel Studio app so you can easily create images from written prompts⁷.

In conclusion, both devices have a lot to offer. If you want a folding phone with a large screen, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a great choice as it comes with great AI features, a long battery life and triple camera system. However, the Pixel 9 Pro XL exceeds expectations with an even better camera and battery life - plus it's more affordable than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
