The Google Pixel 9 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold were part of Google's 2024 release. When you compare the two, the main difference between them is their screen. While both devices share an external 6.3-inch Actua display¹, the 9 Pro Fold opens up to reveal an 8-inch Super Actua Flex display¹ which is ideal for gaming or watching films. When it comes to memory and storage, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold trumps the Google Pixel 9 with its 16GB RAM and offering of 256GB or 512GB capacity². This is in comparison to the 9's 12GB RAM and capacity of either 128GB or 256GB².

However, when it comes to battery life the Pixel 9 outperforms the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. For example, the 9 offers a 4,700 mAh battery compared to the 9 Pro Fold's 4,650 mAh battery³. Although both devices boast a 24+ hour battery life⁴ and fast charging, the 9 has the added benefits of fast wireless charging⁵ and the ability to battery share⁶. What's more, the 9 is designed to last up to 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver, but the 9 Pro Fold is designed to last only 72 hours when Extreme Battery Saver is activated⁷.

Both models benefit from new Google AI features that were released with the series 9 phones. You can expect exciting tools such as Add Me⁸ which allows you to add the photographer into group pictures so no one is left out, and the Pixel Studio app⁹ so you can create your own images using AI. All in all, both phones are a great choice, but the right one for you will depend on what you prioritise in your smartphone. If a huge screen, large storage, and multitasking capabilities are what you need, then it's probably worth paying more for the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. On the other hand, if a big battery life will give you peace of mind, then the Google Pixel 9 is likely the better choice for you.
