About this supplement
This supplement explains how Vodafone uses personal information when you use Vodafone TV Service (including the Vodafone TV set-top box or the Vodafone TV app) and related Vodafone TV services. It gives additional information for how personal data is used in the Vodafone TV service and should be read together with our main privacy policy
Who we are
Vodafone Limited is the controller of the personal information described in this supplement when you use Vodafone TV service.
Some services available through Vodafone TV service are provided by third parties. Where those third parties process personal information for their own purposes, their own privacy information will apply. Further information about those services is set out in the third-party services section of this supplement.

use a Vodafone TV set-top box

Personal information we collect about you
Depending on how you use Vodafone TV service, we may collect:
account information, such as information used to create and manage your Vodafone TV account
authentication information, such as verification and account security information
service information, such as subscription, entitlement and account status information
device and technical information, such as information about the Vodafone TV device, application and service performance
profile and preference information, including parental control and platform preference settings

How we use your personal information
Vodafone uses personal information to deliver the Vodafone TV services as set out below in this supplement. Vodafone may also use your data for other purposes, such as customer service or security reasons, as set out in our main privacy policy.
To provide Vodafone TV service
We use personal information to provide, operate and manage Vodafone TV service. This includes setting up and administering accounts, enabling access to the service, providing platform functionality and managing customer account features.
To authenticate and protect accounts
We use personal information to verify accounts, manage account access, administer PINs and parental controls, support account recovery and protect customer accounts.
We may use account, device, technical and usage information to protect content rights, prevent unauthorised access, detect piracy or misuse, enforce service limits and investigate suspected breaches of our terms. Where necessary, we may share relevant information with content providers, app providers, fraud prevention organisations, regulators, law enforcement authorities or other competent authorities.
To provide content and platform functionality
We use personal information to provide content discovery, recommendations in the 'For you' function, search functionality, profile management, continue-watching functionality and other features available within Vodafone TV service.
To provide purchases and rentals
If you buy or rent content through the Vodafone TV or Vodafone TV app, then we use personal information to administer content purchases, rentals, transaction records, payment status, refunds and related support queries.
To improve and support Vodafone TV
We use personal information to maintain, troubleshoot, monitor and improve Vodafone TV service.
To keep Vodafone TV secure
We use personal information to protect Vodafone TV service, prevent misuse and support security, fraud-prevention, anti-piracy and platform protection activities.
To contact you about Vodafone TV
We may use your contact and account information to send service messages relating to Vodafone TV service, including account verification, security, support and service-related communications.
Personalisation, advertising and preferences
Vodafone TV service includes features designed to help you discover content that may be relevant to you and make it easier to access the programmes, channels and services you enjoy.

Vodafone TV Service also uses technologies such as device identifiers, local storage, software development kits and similar technologies to support platform functionality, analytics, advertising-supported content, audience measurement and related services.
Vodafone TV Services uses a consent management platform. The privacy and consent settings provide information about the purposes for which information is used, the third parties participating in those activities, and the choices available to you.
Personalisation options operate at the level of the set-top box or app. The account holder can review and manage these choices at any time through the preferences section of the Vodafone TV service.
Parental controls
Vodafone TV service includes parental control features that allow content restrictions and viewing controls to be applied to profiles. Certain features may be limited where parental controls or content restrictions are enabled. PIN controls may be used to restrict access to certain content, settings or purchases.
Where third-party applications are accessed through Vodafone TV service, parental control settings provided by those third parties may operate independently from Vodafone TV parental controls. Refer to the settings of those third-party apps to set up the relevant parental controls.
If you are signed into your Google Play account, then you may set up parental controls within your Google Play account to manage the content available to download on the Vodafone TV service.
Children and content-restricted profiles
Vodafone TV service includes a children's content area and children's games. When creating a profile, the account holder can identify that the profile will be used by a child. This applies age-based content restrictions to the profile.
The adult account holder can apply age ratings, content restrictions and PIN controls to individual profiles. These will then influence the content that can be viewed by the profile, as well as restricting certain functionality such as the 'For you' section and settings controls.
Some third-party applications and content services can be accessed through the Vodafone TV service but operate within their own environments. Those providers' privacy information and parental-control settings shall apply when those services are used.
Gaming
Vodafone TV Service includes cloud-based gaming services. Where you use these services, Vodafone and its service providers may process account, profile, device, technical and usage information to provide and operate the gaming functionality, maintain your gaming session, support the service, troubleshoot issues and improve platform performance.

Third-party services
Vodafone TV includes third-party technology, app, content, payment, advertising-supported and platform services. Where a third party processes personal information for its own purposes, its own privacy information will apply to that processing. This supplement explains Vodafone-controlled processing and does not replace third-party privacy information.
Vodafone's partners
Vodafone uses partners to support the Vodafone TV and Vodafone TV app, including Netgem who help provide and operate Vodafone TV on Vodafone's behalf.
Google services
Vodafone TV includes functionality based on the Google Android TV platform. If you choose to sign into a Google account, use Google Play or use Google Voice Assistant functionality, Google may process your personal information in accordance with Google's own privacy policy.
Google services also provides its own parental controls preferences to restrict content available in the Google Play store.
Freely
Where you access Freely services, Freely may process personal information in accordance with its own privacy policy. Freely may request information such as postcode information to provide services and functionality within the Freely environment. Freely-specific preferences can managed within the Freely app on your Vodafone TV.
Streaming, gaming and content services
Vodafone TV may provide access to third-party content providers and applications, including streaming, gaming and content services. Where you use those services, personal information may be processed in accordance with the privacy information provided by the relevant service provider.
These services may be downloaded through Google Play or opened from the Vodafone TV Service. Once a third-party application or service is opened, the provider's own privacy policy and controls apply to processing within that environment. Refer to the specific streaming, content or gaming service provide privacy policy for further details about how they process your personal data when using that service.
Advertising-supported partners
Some services available through Vodafone TV include advertising-supported content, which may include sharing of data with advertising supported partners.
You can manage advertising and preferences with the preferences section of the Vodafone TV Service, as set out already on this page. These settings allow you to view and manage how advertising-supported services and related partners use information and technologies to provide advertising, measurement and related functionality.
International transfers, retention, security and other privacy rights
Vodafone's main privacy policy explains how Vodafone protects personal information, transfers personal information internationally and the safeguards used where information is transferred outside the United Kingdom. It also explains how long Vodafone keeps personal information, how Vodafone protects it and how to exercise your privacy rights.
