How Pay as you go Plus works

Choose plan and activate
If you haven't already, choose a 5G Pay as you go Plus plan that works for you. Then just insert your SIM into your phone and switch on to activate.

Change plan
If you're burning through your data quickly, or simply not using enough, it's easy to change your plan for the next month through the My Vodafone app

Choose to Auto-Renew
All plans are designed to Auto-Renew every 30 days using your payment card. If you'd rather, you can always switch this off and your plan will pause at the end of your current 30-day period.

Manage everything from your smartphone
The My Vodafone app is where you manage everything to do with your plan, from checking usage and changing your plan to accessing 24/7 support from TOBi. That's why Pay as you go Plus is smartphone-only.

Why Auto-Renew?

Just like your favourite subscription services, Pay as you go Plus is designed around rolling 30-day plans that renew automatically using your chosen payment card.

This makes life much easier for you - all you need to do is register a payment card and ensure that Auto-Renew is switched on in the My Vodafone app, and we'll take care of the rest.

How to change plan

One of the best things about Pay as you go Plus is the ability to change your plan every 30 days, according to your needs.

You don't always have to swap for a more expensive plan, either - whether you move up or down is up to you.

To change your plan, head to the My Vodafone app, then scroll down to the Quick Links section and select Change plan.

Our Extras

To help you avoid any surprise charges, we've included a range of Extras for those looking to:

  • Roam abroad

  • Make an international call/text

  • Call/text a premium rate number

  • Buy additional data

To purchase any of these Extras, just head to the My Vodafone app and go to the Extras section.

You will be unable to do any of the above until you've purchased an Extra.

All you need to do is insert your SIM into your phone, then switch your phone on - your SIM will now be activated.

If you're planning to go abroad, you must activate your SIM in the UK first.

Pay as you go Plus is designed so you'll only ever pay for what you need.

All customers will need to purchase the relevant Pay as you go Plus Extra before you make an international call/text, roam abroad, or call/text a premium rate number (such as paying for parking, or voting on a television show).

If you run out of data, you will need to purchase a data Extra to use. Your data extra will expire when exhausted, or when your plan renews.

Pay as you go Plus customers can purchase the following Pay as you go plus Extras:

  • Vodafone Pay as you go Plus Data Extra

  • Vodafone Pay as you go Plus Roaming Extra

  • Vodafone Pay as you go Plus International Calls Extra

  • Vodafone Pay as you go Plus International Texts Extra

  • Vodafone Pay as you go Plus Premium Rate Credit Extra

The easiest way to add an Extra to your plan is by opening the My Vodafone app and choosing Add Extras from the dashboard.

Unlike other Vodafone plans, with Pay as you go Plus you can manage everything using the My Vodafone app on your smartphone.

This makes it easy to change, renew or pause your plan, add Extras, check your usage and more.

You can also get the support you need from TOBi, our digital assistant.

Unlike traditional Pay as you go plans, there's no need to add more top up credit.

Instead, it works more like a monthly subscription - if you have opted in for Auto-Renew, we'll charge your payment card at the same time each month and your Pay as you go Plus plan will renew automatically. You can also change, pause or cancel your plan in the My Vodafone app

Another key difference is that you can manage your plan entirely from the My Vodafone app, available on any smartphone.

If you don't have a smartphone, you won't be able to use Pay as you go Plus.

Your Pay as you go Plus plan works like a monthly subscription - you'll be asked to register a payment card when you first join, and we'll use this card to take payment every 30 days.

If you choose to add any Extras to your plan, it will be charged to this same payment card.

To manage or change your payment method, open the dashboard screen of the My Vodafone app, then select Payments from the navigation at the bottom.

We accept Mastercard or Visa credit cards. We do not accept American Express, Maestro or Electron cards.

Once your order has been confirmed, your SIM should be delivered within 1-2 working days via Royal Mail (although please bear in mind that any postal delays are outside of our control).

Any Pay as you go Plus customers looking to use their plan abroad (including texts, calls and using data) will need to buy an Extra before doing so - this is designed to help you avoid any surprise out-of-plan charges.

We have 8-day Roaming Extras available for our Europe destinations and Rest of the World destinations, and either 8-day or 15-day Roaming Extras available for our Around the World destinations.

Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi before purchasing and note that any Extras will begin from the moment of purchase. If you run out of data, minutes, or texts, you can always purchase another Extra.

If you have bought a SIM in the UK with the intention of travelling abroad and roaming, you must first activate the SIM in the UK for you to be allowed to add the roaming Extra on which you intend to apply. Your SIM cannot be activated abroad.
