Connecting fleets for real-time protection
Overview
Freshlinc is a market leading multi division logistics and supply chain specialist in the UK and mainland Europe.
For their business operations, it was key to have visibility of their vehicles for driver safety and to understand where they are at any one time
Powered by Vodafone Business, Motia came with a solution that integrated IoT SIM cards into their fleet.
“Vodafone Business was the ideal partner. Their connectivity and reach for network was better than anything else we had tested with thousands of connected devices in this fleet alone”
The challenge
Freshlinc recognised the value of telematics, having used it previously. However, their existing system proved inefficient. Accessing crucial footage required physically bringing the vehicle back to one of their depots, which led to delays and added operational costs. This process impacted speed, consumed valuable time, and introduced unnecessary expenses—ultimately hindering their ability to respond quickly and manage their fleet effectively.
The solution
Motia understood these challenges and provided Freshlinc with a solution that consisted of live telematics, driver behaviour, fuel monitoring and live CCTV footage. They could download all data straight away without needing the vehicles to be at the depots.
This solution was powered by Vodafone Business IoT connectivity. Freshlinc chose Vodafone Business for its proven network strength, extensive coverage, and consistent performance—qualities that stood out during rigorous testing and aligned perfectly with their need for dependable fleet connectivity.
Benefits
The implementation of Vodafone Business IoT connectivity was seamless and completed ahead of the launch of the Direct Vision Standards government initiative, ensuring Freshlinc remained compliant without disruption.
From a compliance standpoint, the ability to access telematics footage remotely has significantly accelerated the speed of investigations, allowing for quicker incident resolution and improved operational transparency. This has not only reduced downtime and administrative overheads but also enhanced fleet safety and accountability.
The solution has empowered Freshlinc to operate more efficiently, with greater confidence in their ability to meet regulatory requirements and respond swiftly to operational needs.
