When you buy a phone on our one of our Vodafone EVO plans, your monthly payment will be split into two parts. You'll have one Direct Debit for your Phone Plan and one for your Xtra Plan. Add these together and you'll get the total cost of your monthly payment.

  • Phone Plan covers the monthly cost of your phone as per your Consumer Credit Agreement
  • Xtra Plan covers the cost of your airtime (data, minutes and texts)

In most cases, the Direct Debit payments for your plans will come out on the same date, but you may see one of the payments coming out a few days earlier or later. Please make sure you don't cancel either of these Direct Debit payments, as we'll be unable to collect the payment for either your airtime or your device. You'll see two references on your bank statement. It will show the following:

Airtime: VODAFONE LTD
Device: VODAFONE LTD DEVICE

If you want to change your Direct Debits so both payments come out on the same date, you can do so by calling 191.

Where can I view both parts of my monthly payment?

Download the My Vodafone app and go to the Dashboard. Choose Your Plans and you'll see a tab for Airtime Plan and a tab for Device Plan.

Choose Airtime Plan to confirm what data, minutes, texts and Xtra Plan benefits you have.

Choose Device Plan to view and manage your Phone Plan - this includes your annual statements and original credit agreement. Here, you can also check upcoming payments and how much you've paid towards your Phone Plan so far.

You can also view your monthly payment online in your My Vodafone account.

You can choose to upgrade your phone as soon as 12 months into your Phone Plan. Choose to trade in to help pay for your current phone faster.

Simply visit the My Vodafone app and go to your Device Plan to upgrade.

If you don't want to upgrade, you can choose to continue with your current plan.

Subject to credit check, eligibility and terms.

For your Phone Plan, you can choose any contract length from 12 months all the way up to 36 months. The longer your contract length, the lower your monthly payment.

For your Xtra Plan, your contract length will either be 12 months or 24 months, dependant on the length of your Phone Plan. Phone Plans up to 12 months require either a 12 or 24-month Xtra Plan. Phone Plans over 12 months require a 24-month Xtra Plan.

How do I pay off my phone early?

You can make additional payments to your Phone Plan at any time, by logging into your My Vodafone account online, or by visiting the My Vodafone app and choosing Your Plans > Device Plan.

Choose to pay off some, or all of, your Phone Plan early. Once it's paid off, you can continue with your current Xtra Plan, upgrade or leave. If you choose to continue with your Xtra Plan, you'll only pay to keep connected, so your monthly payment will be lower.

Can I make a one-off payment for my Phone Plan?

You can make a one-off payment for your Phone Plan at any point. This reduces the amount you pay monthly for all following payments - but it won't change the length of the Phone Plan agreement.

What happens once my phone has been paid off?

Once you've paid off your Phone Plan, you can continue with your current Xtra Plan, upgrade or leave.

If you choose to continue with your Xtra Plan, you'll only pay to keep connected, so your monthly payment will be lower.

Battery Refresh

Battery Refresh is included with all our Phone Plans and covers you for two years, or the length of your plan - whichever is longer. It keeps your phone running at its best with battery health checks and replacements. Just to note, our Refurbished Phones don't come with Battery Refresh.

If you're having issues with your battery performance, simply book an appointment with a member of our experienced Tech Team, who can help diagnose any problems and arrange a repair if needed - free of charge.

You'll need to back up your phone before we send it off to be replaced, as all data will be wiped during repair.

We aim to have your phone back with you within three days, depending on when you booked it in.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to replace your battery if you have a cracked or broken screen.

Total Care Warranty

Total Care Warranty is included with all our Phone Plans and covers you for two years.

Total Care Warranty helps to give you the best care for your device, covering against any manufacturer faults and repairs - giving you complete peace of mind at no extra cost to you. Plus, we offer a two-year warranty on all our Apple products - that's one year more than the manufacturer warranty.

Just to note, Refurbished Phones come with a 12-month warranty. Total Care Warranty doesn't cover accidental or liquid damage.

Your Xtra Plan is an 'Airtime Plan', because it includes your airtime (data, minutes and texts), plus Xtra benefits.

Available alongside a phone or as a SIM only, Xtra Plans are our brand new Pay monthly plans loaded with Xtra benefits, designed to help you get the most out of your phone. They're available as 12-month or 24-month plans.

Just like our regular Pay monthly plans, you get the same great choice of airtime (data, minutes and texts). Plus, all our usual benefits. But with Xtra Plans, you also get a load of Xtra benefits that aren't included with any of our other plans.

Visit the My Vodafone app to find out which Xtra benefits are included with your Xtra Plan. Your benefits don’t have an expiry date, they last as long as your Xtra Plan.

When you reach the end of your Xtra Plan, you don't need to do anything - you'll simply move onto a rolling contract and your benefits will continue as long as you keep your plan.

    If you're on a 12-month plan you can boost up to three times at any point in your plan. If you're on a 24-month plan, you can boost up to six times. Unlimited Data Booster is only available to customers who aren't already on an unlimited data plan.

    Visit the My Vodafone app to find out how many Unlimited Data Boosters you have left and to activate your next boost. Or you can text BOOST to 40506 to activate your next boost.

    We'll send you a confirmation text once your Unlimited Data Booster is active. This can take a few minutes to activate.

    This benefit doesn't have an expiry date. Use it whenever you like, for as long as you keep your plan.

How do I find out which Xtra benefits I have or change my benefits?

Find out which Xtra benefits are included in your plan in the My Vodafone app. Your benefits don’t have an expiry date, they last as long as your Xtra Plan - 12 months or 24 months.

If you'd like more Xtra benefits, you can change your Xtra Plan to a different one by visiting the My Vodafone app or logging into your My Vodafone account online.

You'll need to wait three months before changing Xtra Plan. It's only possible to upgrade to an Xtra Plan with more benefits - you can't move to one with less.

If you're currently paying £5 a month for your Smartwatch Connectivity (also known as OneNumber), you aren't eligible for the saving.

If you've recently bought a smartwatch on one of our new Watch Plans, you'll see your saving applied to the Connectivity Plan that your watch came with. But if you have a smartwatch on one of our standard 24-month contracts, you won't get a discount.

Vodafone Advantage Discount Scheme (including NHS, Armed Forces and MOD)

If your employer is part of our Vodafone Advantage scheme, you might be eligible for a great monthly discount, or even money off for a family member or friend.

Vodafone Advantage discount entitles you or a friend or family member, to any two of the below discounts:

  • 25% off all Xtra Plans taken out alongside a Phone Plan
  • 15% off selected 24-month tablet plans
  • 15% off 12 or 24-month SIM only Xtra Plans

Once we've applied your discount, a one-off £10 membership fee will be added to your first bill.

The discount will be applied to your airtime bill only (shown as your Xtra Plan in your monthly statement). Any device costs, charges for usage not included in your plan or any other additional charges won't be discounted.

How to apply?

There are two ways you can apply for your discount:

Once we've received your request, we'll review your application within two working days.

Student Discount

We know how important it is to have access to the internet and an easy way to stay in touch when you're at university. That's why we might be able to help you out while you study, by offering you one discount off any of the following plans:

  • 10% off all Xtra Plans taken out alongside a Phone Plan
  • 10% off selected 24-month tablet plans
  • 10% off 12 or 24-month SIM only Xtra Plans

The discount will be applied to your airtime bill only (shown as your Xtra Plan in your monthly statement). Any device costs, charges for usage not included in your plan or any other additional charges won't be discounted.

How to apply?

  • Check if your university is signed up to the discount scheme here
  • You'll need to apply within 60 days of setting up your new Pay monthly plan
  • Once your new Pay monthly Xtra Plan is set up, simply complete the online form - you'll need to provide a valid.ac.uk email address, and your student ID number

Once we've received your request we'll review your application within two working days.

Minimum term agreement, credit check and terms apply

Device plan: means a credit agreement for the duration of the plan. A Monthly Airtime Plan (i.e. Xtra Plan) is required with your Device Plan. Device Plans up to 12 months require either a 12 or 24 month Monthly Airtime Plan. Device Plans over 12  months require a 24 month Monthly Airtime Plan. You can pay off your Device Plan early, and if you do, you can then keep your Airtime Plan on a 30-day contract or leave. If your Airtime Plan ends for any reason, you will need to keep on paying your monthly Device Plan (either in full or monthly).

Minutes & text: to standard mobiles & landlines (UK: 01, 02, 03) & standard SMS in the UK & our inclusive roaming destination. A 1-minute minimum call charge applies.

Data: a 25GB fair roam policy on all Pay monthly plans, per 30-day period applies in our inclusive roaming destinations.

Unlimited data: available on Unlimited Lite Plan (max download/upload speed of 2Mbps), Unlimited Plan (max download/upload speeds of 10Mbps) & Unlimited Max Plan. Speed may vary by a number of factors.

Battery Refresh: applicable for phone devices purchased either on a Device Plan or purchased outright from Vodafone, with a Vodafone Pay Monthly Plan. Is available for the length of the plan (minimum of 2 years and maximum of 3 years). Battery Refresh is not available for phones that have been cracked, smashed or have water damage (i.e. damage that would not be covered under a manufacturer warranty) and chargeable repairs can be offered. Vodafone Together discount: If you have signed up to an eligible Airtime and an eligible Pro Broadband plan, you are eligible for a discount on your Broadband plan. Total Rollover: Any unused allowance from your current Pay as you go Bundle will only rollover from one bundle to the next, for use in the next 30-day period, if your Pay as you go Bundle renews automatically.
