Where and when can I use Apple Pay with Vodafone?

Where: You can only use Apple Pay on our website or in our app at checkout. You can’t use it over the phone with us, or on webchat with us.

When: You can use Apple Pay to cover the upfront cost of your new device when you’re at online checkout. You can’t use Apple Pay towards a bill.

How does Apple Pay work?

Apple Pay uses the same level of security as your bank – your card details are never shared with the merchant or stored on your device. Each payment is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode, and a unique one-time security code is generated for every transaction. Your full card number is never transmitted.

Do I need to set anything up before paying with Apple Pay?

Just make sure Apple Pay is set up on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac with a valid debit or credit card added to your Wallet. If you've used Apple Pay in shops or other apps before, you're ready to go. Make sure the right card is selected in your Wallet before you tap to pay. If you have multiple cards, Apple Pay will use whichever one is currently selected, so it’s worth checking you’re paying with the card you want.

Which cards work with Apple Pay?

Most major debit and credit cards work with Apple Pay, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. If your card is already in your Apple Wallet, it'll work at checkout. If you’re not sure, check with your bank.

What if my Apple Pay payment at checkout is declined?

Try these steps:

  • Check that the card in your Apple Wallet hasn't expired or been replaced

  • Make sure you have enough available funds or credit on the selected card

  • Switch to a different card in your Wallet and try again

  • Select ‘Pay with Debit or Credit Card’ at checkout to manually type in your card details and pay

Can I get a refund to my Apple Pay card?

Yes. If you're entitled to a refund for an upfront purchase, the refund goes back to the card you used through Apple Pay. It usually takes 3-5 working days to appear, depending on your bank. You might see the transaction come up as a notification on your device before it shows up in your bank statement.

What devices support Apple Pay?

Apple Pay works on:

  • iPhone: iPhone 6 and later

  • iPad: iPads with Face ID or Touch ID

  • Mac: Mac models with Touch ID, or a Mac paired with an iPhone or Apple Watch (for Safari checkout)

  • Apple Watch: Apple Watch Series 1 and later
