How is Vodafone broadband installed?

How Vodafone Broadband is installed depends on the plan type you have. If you have part-fibre or full fibre broadband, an engineer may need to come to your property. If you have Indoor Broadband, you don’t need an engineer – you can install your broadband yourself.

Full fibre broadband

On the day of installation our engineers will run a cable from a nearby street cabinet to your home. Installation can take up to four hours – our engineers will test your service to make sure you’re connected. Someone over the age of 18 must be at home for the installation.

In some cases, they’ll need to dig a route through your garden or driveway to install a fibre wire – they’ll always talk to you before this happens.

It’s important to get permission before an installation, for example, if you have a shared driveway or your building is rented or listed. You’ll need to sign a wayleave agreement to confirm you have permission.

You’ll need to make sure all your devices, such as personal and care alarms, will work with your fibre connection – please check with your device manufacturer or provider.

Part-fibre broadband

  • The engineer will work with you to install a master socket if you need one

  • Follow the instructions for setting up your router on the day of activation

  • Leave the router turned on until you’re connected to the internet – it should start working by midnight the same day

For help with your Indoor Hub or Outdoor Hub, check out our set up videos

5G Broadband with Indoor Hub:
Simply insert your SIM, then plug in your Indoor Hub.

5G Broadband with Outdoor Hub:
Your Outdoor Hub needs to be installed on the outside of your home to get the best 5G signal possible. There are 4 easy ways to install your hub on the outside of your home:

  • Wall mount

  • Drainpipe or pole mount

  • Window mount

  • Indoor stand (if the 5G signal is strong enough)

Mounting your hub to a wall, drainpipe or pole might require some extra equipment – like a drill or a screwdriver.
