What happens on my installation/activation date?
If you’re having a new phone line installed
An Openreach engineer will come and set everything up for you. They will visit you on the date and timeslot we arranged with you (8am – 1pm or 1pm – 6pm). That date and time will have been confirmed in your service confirmation letter and email. The engineer will be happy to prove their identity by showing you some official identification. Just remember that someone over the age of 18 will need to be at the property to let them in.
If you’ve already got a working phone line
Any existing broadband connection you have will stop working on the activation date for your Vodafone Broadband service. On your activation date, you’ll need to plug in your Vodafone Broadband router – please follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide [PDF: 7.85MB] that came with it. Your broadband service will be live before midnight on your activation date.
If your phone line isn’t currently active
You’ll need to plug in your Vodafone Broadband router before 8am on your activation date. Please follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide [PDF: 7.85MB] that came with your router – and remember to use one of the microfilters we’ve provided, if necessary. Your broadband service will be live before midnight on your activation date.
When will my Vodafone Broadband service start working?
It will be live before midnight on your activation date.
Why do my broadband speeds vary after I first get connected?
When your Vodafone Broadband is activated, we’ll begin optimising your connection to make sure you get the best possible download speed. This process can sometimes cause short drops in service, or unexpectedly slow speeds for the first 10 days. However, it’s very important that you don’t turn off or reset your router during this time.
If you're having difficulties connecting with your new router, you can refer to our broadband support tool for more help.
