Pay as you go Plus is an easier way to Pay as you go. It works a bit like a monthly subscription, instead of topping up, you can set your plan to automatically renew every 30 days.

Our Pay as you go Plus plans come with no commitments - you can pause or cancel your plan anytime. There are no surprise out-of-plan charges, and we've got a range of Extras that you can buy to enhance your plan, like if you want to use your phone abroad.

You can only manage your plan using the My Vodafone app, available on any smartphone. If you don't have a smartphone, you won't be able to use Pay as you go Plus.

How Pay as you go Plus works

Physical SIM

You need a smartphone to use Pay as you go Plus. All you need to do is insert your SIM into your phone, then switch your phone on - your SIM will now be activated. We'll send you a text with everything you need to know to get started.

If you're planning to go abroad, you must activate your SIM in the UK first.

eSIM

You will need to download your SIM using the instructions sent to your email - the process of setting up your eSIM will depend on the type of device you have.

How to install an eSIM on your device

Yes - if you have a compatible eSIM device, you now have the option to choose an eSIM on a Pay as you go Plus plan.

If you're an existing Pay as you go Plus customer with a physical SIM, you can swap to an eSIM

Yes, Pay as you go Plus plans work just like prepaid SIM cards. You pay upfront and your plan can automatically renew every 30 days. There’s no contract and no credit checks.

Pay as you go Plus is designed so you'll only ever pay for what you need.

You'll need to buy a Pay as you go Plus Extra if you want to:

• call or text an international number

• roam abroad

• call or text a premium rate number (like voting on a television show)

• add more data to your plan

To add an Extra to your plan, open the My Vodafone app and choose Add Extras from the dashboard.

To use the My Vodafone app, connect to WiFi or use your data. If you run out of data, you'll need to buy a data Extra. It'll expire once you've used your data up, or when your plan renews.

Premium rate charges

We charge an access charge of 79p a minute to connect premium rate calls. On top of this, there's also a service charge set by the company you're calling. Both charges will be taken from your Premium Rate Credit Extra. For texts, a service charge will be taken from your Extra.

Unlike other Vodafone plans, with Pay as you go Plus you can manage everything using the My Vodafone app on your smartphone.

This makes it easy to change, renew or pause your plan, add Extras, check your usage and more.

You can also get the support you need from TOBi, our digital assistant.

Unlike traditional Pay as you go plans, there's no need to manually top up.

Instead, it works more like a monthly subscription. If you opt in for Auto-Renew, we'll charge your payment card at the same time each month and your Pay as you go Plus plan will renew automatically.

You can change, pause or cancel your plan in the My Vodafone app, available on any smartphone. Because everything is managed in the My Vodafone app, you'll need a smartphone to get Pay as you go Plus.

Your Pay as you go Plus plan works like a monthly subscription - you'll be asked to register a payment card when you first join, and we'll use this card to take payment each month.

If you choose to add any Extras to your plan, it will be charged to this same payment card.

To manage or change your payment method, open the dashboard screen of the My Vodafone app, then select Payments from the navigation at the bottom.

We accept Mastercard or Visa credit cards. We do not accept American Express, Maestro or Electron cards.

Yes, all Pay as you go Plus plans include unlimited UK minutes and texts. Some plans also come with unlimited data, giving you the freedom to stream, browse, and stay connected without worrying about usage limits. 

Once your order has been confirmed, your SIM should be delivered within 1-2 working days (although please bear in mind that any postal delays are outside of our control).

If you have selected an eSIM, you will receive an email with instructions on how to connect your eSIM within minutes.

If you want to use your Pay as you go Plus plan abroad, you'll need to buy an Extra.

Check which Extra you need

Your Extra will start as soon as you buy it. When you're abroad, make sure you're connected to WiFi before you buy an Extra, otherwise you'll be charged for using data outside of your plan.

If you've bought a SIM in the UK with the idea of travelling abroad and roaming, you must activate the SIM in the UK first, then add a roaming Extra. Your SIM can't be activated abroad.

Pay as you go Plus plan: My Vodafone app required. UK and Zone A use only unless Roaming Extra purchased. Minutes to standard mobiles and landlines (UK: 01, 02, 03), standard texts and plan data allowance (excluding Extras). Auto-Renews every 30 days if opted in via My Vodafone app and payment card added. Purchase Extras and manage payments through My Vodafone app. Plan stops after 30 days if paused or cancelled (by opting out of Auto-Renew). If opted out and you do not choose another plan, you can only receive inbound calls and texts once your 30-day plan ends. You must opt back in and re-purchase a new plan to use data, minutes, send texts or buy Extras. For terms and more information see the Pay as you go Plus terms and conditions

Roaming: Your data usage is for the UK and Zone A destinations only, unless you purchase one of our roaming extras in the My Vodafone app. Your extra will run until the day it expires (at 11:59pm UK time) or when it is used up, whichever is sooner.
