What is the objective of your project?
To provide community groups across Bournemouth with the skills, connectivity and devices to improve their ways of working and allow them to support more people in the community through a mix of face to face and online delivery.
How many people do you aim to support with your project? How will you achieve this?
We have identified five community groups to work with who between them support 600 – 1,100 people per year.
We will provide each Community group with five tablets, connectivity, and work with two representatives from each group to deliver a series of digital workshops to create digital ambassadors. These ambassadors can then help to upskill other members at their own groups in order to create a network of digitally-savvy community groups.
Following the initial five, we are then keen to onboard with more community groups in the area.
What are the timelines for this project? List any major milestones or project contingencies.
We are looking to pilot with one group in October and then roll out to four more groups in November 2021. We will then look to expand to more community groups in Jan 2022. We will therefore look to apply for further SIMs later in the year once we have onboarded new groups.
How will free connectivity help you to deliver this project?
Free connectivity will allow us to provide a complete digital solution to each of the community groups to allow them to experience and understand the benefits of operating in a more digital way. It will also allow them to reach and support people in the community who for a number of reasons are unable to physically come to one of the centres. If we didn’t receive the connectivity for free, we would only be able to support three groups due to our limited funding having to cover the cost of connectivity.
