iPhone 7 Plus vs iPhone SE

Which one is best for you?

When iPhone SE was first released, it offered a more affordable alternative to iPhone 6s – with a smaller screen but the same impressive A9 chip and 12-megapixel camera. It did a great job – but matching up to the newer, faster and better equipped iPhone 7 Plus is a much bigger ask.

Among other advances, iPhone 7 Plus boasts Apple’s impressive A10 chip (40% faster than the A9) and a dual rear-facing camera that’s cleverly designed to offer 2x optical zoom. Added to that, iPhone 7 Plus captures a wider range of colours than iPhone SE and its new ‘wide colour’ screen is designed to show off the results to full effect.

This is pretty much as you’d expect, as each new release from Apple makes big leaps forward. The SE was designed as an entry-level alternative to iPhone 6s – not to compete with iPhone 6s Plus or iPhone 7 Plus. As a pocket-sized phone that runs Apple’s user-friendly operating system, it still delivers pretty decent specs and impressive performance.

iPhone SE and iPhone 7 Plus are likely to appeal to very difference users. If you love the design, feel and ease of use of Apple products, but you’re not hugely fussed about a big screen or having the latest model, iPhone SE might be the best choice for you. Especially if you like a phone that fits into smaller pockets. If you want the luxury of a large format phone and an advanced camera and processor, plus improvements in battery life and more, then iPhone 7 is sure to appeal.
