Galaxy S9 vs Galaxy S7

Which one is best for you?

Not surprisingly, the Galaxy S7 has struggle to match up to the Galaxy S9 – one of the most hotly anticipated phones of 2018.

The first difference can be seen at a glance. The Galaxy S9 features a gorgeous 5.8-inch Infinity screen, which curves round the phone to blend into the sides. The S7, though just a fraction smaller than the Galaxy S9, lacks the curved display and has a screen size of just 5.1 inches.

And while the cameras may look similar, the Galaxy S9’s has a few distinct advances. Selfie fans will benefit from an 8-megapixel front-facing camera (up from 5 megapixels on the S7) with added autofocus for great results every time. Both phones have a 12-megapixel main camera, but the Galaxy S9 has a dual aperture, which means it can still take great pictures in low light.

Music lovers will appreciate the Galaxy S9’s stereo speakers, tuned by high-end headphone makers AKG. Security has been improved, too, with the Galaxy S9 adding iris and face recognition to the fingerprint sensor featured on the S7. Some may prefer the convenience of the S7’s fingerprint scanner, however, as it’s located in a physical home button.

The S9’s Exynos 9810 processor will deliver faster performance according to the manufacturer – introducing ultra-realistic HDR videos and AI applications like face recognition. There’s also a fun new feature – AR emojis. The phone’s camera maps your face onto a 3D avatar, which you can then customise by changing hair colour and outfits. Use this new digital you to create personalised GIF emojis – or even read out a voice message.

So if you’re looking to upgrade from S7 to S9 – you’ve plenty of new features and upgrades to look forward to, as well as an all-round better performance.
