Compare iPhone Air vs iPhone 15 Plus
Which one is best for you?
How does the iPhone Air compare against the iPhone 15 Plus? To begin with, the iPhone Air is part of Apple’s 2025 release while the 15 Plus was released in 2023.
As the name suggests, the iPhone 15 Plus has a larger 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display as opposed to iPhone Air’s 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display – however the Air has an Always-On display and ProMotion technology (120 Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling). The Air also has Apple’s latest aluminium casing, action button for shortcuts, and Camera Control button for easier access to photography. The 15 Plus is made of titanium and is missing those buttons that feature across all iPhone 17 models.
Between the two devices, there is a key difference in their chips. The iPhone Air comes with the A19 Pro chip while the 15 Plus has the A16. However, they both have similar battery lives, with the Air offering up to 27 hours of video playback and the 15 Plus offering up to 26 hours. If capacity is a priority, the iPhone Air offers up to 1TB in storage as opposed to iPhone 15 Plus’ 256GB.
Another difference is the camera systems on these models. The iPhone Air boasts the latest 18MP Centre Stage front camera which offers more features as well as better quality selfies. The iPhone 15 Plus is limited to a 12MP TrueDepth camera. When it comes to the rear camera, the 15 Plus actually has a better offering with a 48MP main and 12MP Ultra Wide. The Air is limited to a 48MP camera, which could be a drawback for those who want more advanced photography options.
It is worth noting that the iPhone 15 Plus is without Apple Intelligence, Apple’s integrated AI system. The iPhone Air comes with the latest Apple Intelligence features including: Live Translation for conversing with others, Clean Up in photographs to remove unwanted objects, and advanced Writing Tools.
In conclusion, the iPhone Air is a more advanced model over the iPhone 15 Plus. It comes with the latest in Apple Intelligence, the A19 Pro chip, and a new and improved front-facing camera. However, the iPhone Air is missing a more advanced rear camera which may be a deciding factor if you enjoy iPhone photography.
