Frequently Asked Questions

If you're new to Vodafone, you can buy a Pay as you go Bundle online, or in your nearest store.

If you're an existing Pay as you go customer, you'll need to make sure you have enough credit in your account before you can opt into your chosen bundle. You can opt in by:

  • Logging in to My Vodafone
  • Calling 4354 free from your Vodafone phone
  • Texting BIGVALUE10, BIGVALUE15, BIGVALUE20, BIGVALUE30 or BVBUNLIM to 2345, free from your Vodafone Pay as you go phone. You'll need to send the text from the phone you want to add the bundle to.

Please note: Once you've opted in to your Pay as you go Bundle, you'll pay our standard Pay as you go rates if it expires and you don't renew, or if you opt out of your bundle early.

Setting up and using your bundle:

Day 1: Activate

Put your SIM in your phone, connect to our network, and your bundle will be ready to use.

Day 1-30: Use

Scroll, stream and socialise as it suits. If you use up your allowance before 30 days is up, you'll pay out-of-plan rates. But you can always renew early or add an Extra.

Day 30: Renew

We'll text you a reminder a few days before your renewal is due. If you've got enough credit, you don't need to do anything - your bundle will renew automatically and you'll get Total Rollover on all the allowances you don't use.

If you don't have enough credit, you have a seven day grace period to top up so that your bundle will renew. You'll pay our standard base plan rates during this period.

Vodafone Total Rollover lets you keep any unused data, minutes and or texts from your previous Pay as you go Bundle, and use them in the next 30-day period.

You'll need to use any allowances that roll over within the next 30 days. Your allowance won't roll over more than once, so you can't save it for longer than 30 days.

You won't be eligible to roll over your allowance if:

  • You renew you Pay as you go Bundle early
  • You switch to another Pay as you go Bundle
  • Your bundle doesn't automatically renew by the end of day 30 (due to not having enough credit in your account)

You have the following options for topping up your phone:

My Vodafone app

Download the My Vodafone app to view your balance, top up and manage your plan.

Online

Check your balance online with My Vodafone and top up anytime using our Top up portal.

By phone

Dial *#1345# free from your Vodafone Pay as you go phone to see your balance on screen.

Call 2345 free from your Vodafone Pay as you go phone to hear your balance or top up.

If you don't have your Vodafone mobile with you, call the Pay as you go credit line on 03333 048048 from any other UK mobile or landline (standard call charges apply).

By text

Top up over the phone on 2345 free from your Vodafone Pay as you go mobile.

To top up again, text TOPUP to 2345 with the amount you want to add and the last four digits of your payment card - for example, text TOPUP 10 1234 to add £10 using a card ending in 1234.

Top up in store or buy a voucher

You can top up in your nearest Vodafone store at a self-service Top Up kiosk. Or you can buy a pre-loaded voucher and use it to top up online.

Top up automatically

Just download the My Vodafone app and choose Top Up from the main menu, then select Auto Top up.

Alternatively, you can call 18829 free from the Vodafone Pay as you go mobile you want to register and make your initial Top up. Then choose how often you want your Top up to automatically activate - weekly, monthly or every 30 days.

To keep your Pay as you go number active, you need to use it for at least one chargeable activity - like sending a text or topping up - every 180 days.

If you don't top up or use any credit for 90 days, we'll send you a text explaining that your account will expire in another 90 days.

To avoid this, simply use your phone for a chargeable activity after you receive the reminder text. This will let you carry on as normal with your current number.

However, if you don't use your phone within that 90-day period, your mobile number will be disconnected and will no longer work.

With our Pay as you go Bundles, you can use your data, minutes and texts in 51 European destinations as you would at home, completely free of charge.

Roaming charges will still apply in other destinations and for customers on our Pay as you go base plan.

Whether you're joining Vodafone from another network, or switching from one of our Pay Monthly plans to Pay as you go, you can find out more about what steps you need to take here.

With our free SIM, you can choose to order a blank SIM card that will arrive at your address. Then, when you're ready to start using it, simply insert the card into your phone, choose one of our Pay as you go Bundles and top up your account with the value of your chosen bundle - we'll then convert this into your bundle. For example, if you want to use our £10 bundle, just top up your account with £10 and we'll do the rest.

If you want your bundle to automatically renew each month, make sure you have enough credit on your account before your bundle's renewal date.

Your new Pay as you go SIM will take between two to four working days to be delivered.

All deliveries are free of charge.

To remove your Pay as you go Bundle (also known as a Big Value Bundle), simply let us know by starting a chat with us, calling 4354 free from your Vodafone mobile, or speaking to an adviser in one of our stores.

If you'd like to use your bundle until your current 30-day period is up, you can stop it from auto-renewing using the My Vodafone app. To do this:

  1. Open the My Vodafone app and select the Plan button on the home screen
  2. Then, choose Change plan
  3. You'll be asked to enter and confirm your mobile number - enter this and select Continue
  4. Select the Opt out button underneath your bundle details
  5. We'll text you a security code - enter the text you receive into the Security code box, then select Continue
  6. Select Remove this Big Value Bundle

Once your bundle is removed from your account, you'll lose any remaining data, minutes or texts you had and will start paying our standard Pay as you go rates.

Unlimited Bundle: An Unlimited Pay as you go Bundle lasts for 30 days. Your bundle will automatically renew every 30 days if you have enough credit. To opt out call 2345. Unlimited minutes and texts: minutes to standard mobiles and landlines (UK: 01, 02, 03) and standard texts (excluding MMS) in the UK and our inclusive roaming destinations. Roaming data is capped at 25GB per 30-day period in our inclusive roaming destinations. Unlimited Bundle terms, exclusions and destinations.

Pay as you go Bundles (Big Value Bundles): Minutes to standard mobiles and landlines (UK: 01, 02, 03), standard texts and data (excluding entertainment packs and Extras) to use in the UK and our Europe Zone. Pay as you go 1: Our standard Pay as you go rate. You pay £1 each day you use your phone and get unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 50MB data. Allowances expire on midnight each day or until they've all been used. On the days you don't use your phone to make a call, send a text or use data, you won't pay anything. Total Rollover: Any unused allowance from your current Pay as you go Bundle will only rollover from one bundle to the next, for use in the next 30-day period, if your Pay as you go Bundle renews automatically.
