Released a year apart, the Pixel 8 Pro and 9 Pro are two premium devices. Interestingly, the newer device, the 9 Pro features a smaller 6.3-inch Super Actua Display^¹in comparison to the 8 Pro's 6.7-inch Super Actua Display¹. This may be because the 9 series introduces a new Pro 9 XL which boasts a larger 6.8-inch display. Similarly, the 9 Pro offers a smaller battery of 4,700 mAh^²in comparison to the 8 Pro's 5,050 mAh² battery. However, only the 9 Pro can claim to have up to 100 hours of battery life with Extreme Battery Saver³ - the 8 Pro falls behind at 72 hours of battery life when Extreme Battery Saver is activated.

The Pixel 9 Pro offers an improvement with its Google Tensor G4 processor and 16GB of RAM. The 8 Pro has the earlier G3 and offers 12GB of RAM in comparison. Both devices offer the same security features including Google VPN⁴ at no extra cost and multi-layer hardware security. They also have similar cameras, both offering a three-camera system with a 50MP wide camera lens, 48MP ultrawide, and a 48MP telephoto. The 9 Pro however offers 8K video recording and an improved front camera of 42 MP for better selfies - in comparison to 8 Pro's 10.5 MP. Both devices offer up to 1TB of storage⁵ - perfect if you're going to be taking a lot of photos.

A big benefit of the Pixel 9 Pro is that it offers the latest AI features. These include the Pixel Studio⁶ a new app for creating AI generated images from prompts, Google Keep for easy AI-powered list-making, and Add Me, which uses augmented reality and AI so you can always include the photographer in a group shot.

In conclusion, both devices are a great price and offer top-of-the-range Pixel specifications. The Pixel 9 Pro has a slightly better camera system, more processing power, and more advanced AI features. However, the Pixel 8 Pro has a larger screen and actually a larger battery - plus it may be at a more affordable price point.
