Vodafone Xchange

At the moment, the phones that come with Xchange are:

These phones need to be bought directly from us on a Phone Plan. Many new phones will be available with Xchange in the future.

To use Vodafone Xchange, your eligible phone needs to be classed as ‘Good Condition’ by our Trade-in Tool. To be classed as ‘Good Condition’, your phone must:

• Be able to turn on

• Not have any cracks, chips or deep scratches

• Be free from any damage to the LCD screens including missing pixels, lighting or screen accuracy issues

• Have no damage that would affect the function of the phone, such as but not limited to damage to the camera, audio, connectivity, power and charge buttons, etc

• Have no liquid damage

• Not be bent or misshapen

• Have no replacement parts that are not from the original equipment manufacturer

• Not be a lost, blocked, stolen, or fake device

• Have activation locks (such as Find My iPhone or Find My Mobile) deactivated

Keep in mind that this list just provides some examples – what we class as ‘Damaged’ is not limited to these issues. If your phone doesn’t pass our Trade-in Tool checks, you won’t be able to use Xchange. However, you may still be able to trade in

To get a new phone every year, you need to choose a phone with Vodafone Xchange and opt for a 24-month Phone Plan. Xchange allows you to exchange your phone for a new one 12 months before your Phone Plan ends, so with a 24-month Phone Plan, you could get a new phone after 12 months.

Your Xchange date will be displayed in the My Vodafone app. When you open the app, choose Device Plan and Vodafone Xchange will be listed as one of your benefits. If you choose the Vodafone Xchange option, you’ll find your Xchange date.

When you use Vodafone Xchange, you can upgrade to any phone on one of our Pay monthly plans. However, if you'd like to use Xchange again in the future, you’ll need to upgrade to another phone that comes with this benefit.

You cannot add Xchange to an existing plan.

You can return your phone to us by dropping it off at one of our stores, or by using the pre-paid returns pack that we'll post to you. We'll ask you to choose one of these options at checkout when you buy your new device.

Here are some simple steps to walk you through completing your Xchange.

1. Check your Xchange date in the My Vodafone app
   You’ll need to be within 12 months of your Phone Plan ending. You can find your Xchange date under the Device Plan tab.

2. Head to our Trade-in Tool in the My Vodafone app
   You’ll need to run a few checks to confirm your phone is in good condition. You’ll then receive a unique trade-in code, which is valid for 7 days.

3. Choose your new phone and Airtime Plan.
   When prompted, enter your trade-in code and select the Xchange payment option to settle your current phone plan. Checkout, choose your return method, and complete your purchase.

4. Return your old phone for free when your new one arrives.
   You have 14 days to return your old phone using your chosen returns method (prepaid returns pack or in-store). We’ll confirm it matches the condition stated in the Trade-in Tool and then we’ll settle your old Phone Plan.

To get your Xchange, you’ll need to upgrade to a new Phone Plan and Airtime Plan at the same time – from 12 months before the end of your Phone Plan.

If you upgrade your Airtime Plan separately, you won’t be able to exchange your phone for a new one using Vodafone Xchange. You can still trade in your old phone and upgrade to a new one through our Trade-in Guarantee, but the value of your old phone may not cover what’s left to pay on your existing Phone Plan.

Your Xchange status shows where you are in the process of getting your Xchange. To check your Xchange status, head to the Device Plan tab in the My Vodafone app, or log into your My Vodafone Account online.
