What is the difference between Vodafone Basics and other SIM only plans?
Vodafone Basics are our simple, everyday plans. They come with unlimited minutes, texts and an allowance of data.
Vodafone Basics plans are capped so you never need to worry about going over your allowances. This means, picture messages, International calls and Premium calls starting 09 are not available.
What isn't included in my Vodafone Basics SIM only plan?
Vodafone Basics plans offer an allowance of data, minutes and texts at a lower price.
What they don't have is some of the features that can make your plan more expensive.

Can I upgrade to a Vodafone Basics plan if I'm a Vodafone Pay monthly customer?
No, Vodafone Basics plans are only available for new customers joining us from another network, or if you're upgrading from Vodafone Pay as you go to a Vodafone Basics plan.
Can I upgrade on a Vodafone Basics plan?
Yes, you can upgrade to another SIM only plan at any point, meaning you can easily swap your Vodafone Basics plan to another if you find you need more data.
If you decide you need a plan that includes picture messages, International and Premium calls starting 09, you can choose any of our other SIM only plans
However, you can only upgrade to a plan with a phone once your 12-month Vodafone Basics contract ends.
If you upgrade to a Vodafone EVO plan, you can upgrade as soon as three months into your Phone Plan or just three months into your Airtime Plan (excluding customers who have already paid off their credit agreement).
Can I add an Extra to my Vodafone Basics plan?
Yes - three types of Extras are compatible with Vodafone Basics plans. You can add Data Extras, 08 number minute Extras, or Europe Roaming Passes to your plan.
These can easily be activated by texting us a code. Data and 08 number minute Extras will renew automatically every 30 days and the cost will be added to your bill each month until you choose to remove them from your plan.

Roaming passes for our Europe Zone are available at £16 for 8 days or £21 for 15 days, or £2.75 for a single day pass.
Where can I use my plan?
You can use your Vodafone Basics plan in the UK and abroad.
There is a daily charge, starting from £2.75 a day or you can roam cheaper with one of our Roaming Passes, to use your UK allowance in our Europe Zone (Zone B)
Travelling outside of Europe? It's just £8 a day to use your UK allowance in 107 worldwide destinations (Zones C and D)

Vodafone customers who purchased a Vodafone Basics plan before 22 July 2022 do not have roaming services included. These plans are for UK use only.
How do I add more data to my Vodafone Basics plan?
The best way to get additional data is by upgrading to another Vodafone Basics plan with more data.
You can also add data to your plan when you activate a Data Extra.
Your extra data lasts for a month, and you can opt in by texting us the relevant code, which can be found in the My Vodafone app or by logging in to your account online.
Your Data Extra will renew automatically every 30 days and the cost will be added to your bill each month until you choose to remove them from your plan.

Are Vodafone Passes compatible with Vodafone Basics?
Only Vodafone Roaming Passes are compatible with Vodafone Basic, other Vodafone Passes aren't.

Can I keep my phone number with Vodafone Basics?
If you're new to Vodafone, or you're an existing Pay as you go customer, you can keep your phone number with your new Vodafone Basics plan.
Once you receive your SIM and your new phone number, simply fill out our Keep My Number Form to continue using your current Vodafone Pay as you go number.
If you're joining us from another network, you'll need a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) from your old provider before you can fill in the form.
What type of calls can I make on Vodafone Basics?
You will be able to call standard UK mobiles and landlines (starting 01, 02 or 03) as well as Freefone numbers starting 0800, 0808 - when using your mobile in the UK.
You can also make calls to 084, 087 and 118 numbers, but these aren't included in your plan, so please remember that they're subject to an additional charge
Your Vodafone Basics plan will not allow you to make Premium calls starting 09 or International calls.
Do Vodafone Basics plans use 4G?
Yes, all our Vodafone Basics plans use our 4G network, covering 99% of the UK population.
These plans don't offer access to our 5G network.

What size SIM card do I need?
Whichever SIM card you need, our Vodafone 3-in-1 Multi SIM will do the job as it includes a Standard SIM, microSIM or nanoSIM - simply pop out the size you need.
If you're already a Vodafone customer and want to swap your Pay monthly contract to SIM only at the end of your agreement, you can keep the SIM card you've already got - we'll do the rest at our end.

Roaming
Roaming: using your home data plan to roam in Zone A is included in all of our Pay Monthly plans. For roaming in other destinations, charges will apply depending on which plan you are on.
Roaming Passes: For Pay Monthly customers without European roaming included in their plan, you can purchase an 8- or 15-day European roaming pass to use your monthly UK allowance of calls, texts and data in our Zone B destinations. The 8-day pass is £15, and the 15-day pass is £20. Out of bundle charges such as picture messages, premium calls or premium texts are not covered by this charge. Mobile Specific Small Print
Lifetime Service Promise: means a) Lifetime warranty covering manufacturer's defects, provided you have an active pay monthly Airtime plan + b) Battery refresh replacing your phone's battery (for 2-3 years) if it fails one of the Battery refresh tool tests. Red Entertainment plans
Choose one entertainment option to be included in your Red Entertainment plan for the duration of your 24-month minimum term only. When the minimum term ends, your airtime plan will automatically renew with a monthly charge for your entertainment option (£9.99 a month for Disney+ Standard, £8.99 a month for Prime, and £12.99 a month for YouTube Premium as of 5 November 2025) added to your bill unless cancelled. Disney+ Standard
You can choose a Disney+ Standard subscription to be included in your plan for the duration of your minimum term. FAQs
What’s the difference between Pay as you go and Pay monthly SIM only plans?
With Pay as you go, you don’t have a minimum term contract. You also use pre-paid credit or buy a bundle of data, minutes and texts, and you top up your credit or buy another bundle when you need more.
With Pay monthly, you do have a minimum term contract. We have some exclusive SIM only deals for Pay as you go customers moving to Pay monthly which are 12-month and 24-month contracts.
You’ll pay a set amount until you’re eligible to renew or change your plan. After your minimum term ends, it will continue rolling on a monthly basis until you renew, change or cancel it.
With Pay monthly you can go for plans with unlimited data, 5G+ and inclusive roaming too – there's lots of choice.
What plans can I choose from on Pay monthly?
We have three different types of plans – Basics, Red plans and Xtra plans.
Vodafone Basics are our simple, everyday plans. They come with unlimited minutes and texts and an allowance of data. Vodafone Basics plans are capped so you never need to worry about going over your allowances. This means picture messages, international calls and premium calls starting 09 are not available.
Red plans have a set amount of data to use each month and come with unlimited minutes and texts.
Xtra plans have all of that plus some extra benefits, such as roaming in Europe and worldwide, Device Care, unlimited picture messages and 6 unlimited data boosters.
How do I switch from Pay as you go to Pay monthly?
Choose the plan you like and simply follow the steps through to the checkout. Your new plan will be available shortly afterwards and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready.
You’ll need to have a My Vodafone account set up to get a Pay monthly plan, but it’s easy to do. You can create your new account or log in and then choose your new plan.
If you already have a Pay monthly account with us and want to add another line and move your Pay as you go number to it, you’ll need to contact us. You can do this through Live Chat, by calling us free on 191 from your Vodafone mobile, or by visiting us in store. We can then set everything up on your Pay monthly account.
Will I be able to keep my existing Vodafone Pay as you go number?
Yes, you will keep the same phone number. We’ll simply move your account from Pay as you go to Pay monthly.
Do I need to get a new SIM card?
No, you can keep the same SIM card when you move from Pay as you go to Pay monthly.
If you already have a Pay monthly account with us and move your Pay as you go number to it, we’ll give you a temporary new number. We’ll then move your Pay as you go number when you send us your Keep my number form.

For Laptops / Tablets: lets you select a Monthly Device Plan Credit Agreement (24 to 48 months) with a 24 month Data Plan. You can pay off your Device Plan early, and if you do, you can then keep your Data Plan on a 30-day contract or leave. If your Data Plan ends for any reason, you will need to keep on paying your monthly Device Plan (either in full or monthly)
Upgrade from month 3: means a) buying a new Device Plan (which is a credit agreement) and an Airtime/Data/Connectivity Plan (as applicable) and b) either (i) paying off the remaining amount on your current Device Plan prior to upgrading, or (ii) paying for your current Device Plan along with your new Device Plan. Subject to credit check, eligibility and terms.
Trade-in Guarantee: Available when you trade-in an eligible device using our Trade-in Tool, and purchase a new Vodafone Pay Monthly Airtime Plan. Your Trade-in value is guaranteed for 7 days from the date of your Trade-in Quote. Device must be returned within 14 days of the start of your new Airtime Plan and meet our requirements. You can choose to receive your Trade-in value via a monthly airtime saving, a credit to your Vodafone account, or, if you are an existing customer, as a credit towards your existing Phone Plan balance. Roaming
Roaming: using your home data plan to roam in Zone A is included in all of our Pay Monthly plans. For roaming in other destinations, charges will apply depending on which plan you are on.
Roaming Passes: For Pay Monthly customers without European roaming included in their plan, you can purchase an 8- or 15-day European roaming pass to use your monthly UK allowance of calls, texts and data in our Zone B destinations. The 8-day pass is £15, and the 15-day pass is £20. Out of bundle charges such as picture messages, premium calls or premium texts are not covered by this charge. Red Entertainment plans
Choose one entertainment option to be included in your Red Entertainment plan for the duration of your 24-month minimum term only.
